An alternative view could suggest that the Professor Xavier who appears
in The Wolverine is really the Professor Xavier of T2 – a timeline where
Xavier did
not die. However, this Xavier seems to have
knowledge of the future, which suggests he has gone back in time to find
Wolverine. If this
is the case, then this version of Professor
Xavier has changed the course of history by time travelling, which
still results in the creation of a third timeline.
